'Tis the season of parties, nights out and general merriment! The selfies will be happening in full force, so you have to make sure your makeup is on point, writes Karen Constantine.
I've a quick and easy makeup look that anyone can create and while you mightn't have the exact products used here, you'll be able to substitute products you have in your stash. The method is what it's all about today, so let's get ready shall we!
Starting with the shade Naked from the original Urban Decay Naked palette, blend this into the crease as your transition colour. What's a transition colour? A soft shade that you probably won't even know is there, but makes the fade from your eyelid to your brow bone smooth, seamless and make it look like you know what you're doing.

Next it's time for the shade Buck which we're going to apply right into the socket, adding depth, dimension while making your eyes look more deep set. This is a warmer and more pigmented shade than Naked, so using it on a slim blending brush like this one from Blank Canvas Cosmetics means we can be precise with the placement. Feel fee to blend to your heart's content after each step. Harsh edges are not welcome here!
Taking a flat eyeshadow brush, take the shade Half Baked onto the eyelid and watch the look start to take shape. This gold shadow is perfect for the festive season! It's a soft, buttery shadow so make sure to tap off any excess before you start applying it. A nice way to bring more light to your eyes is to apply a small amount of this to the inner corners and pat it in using your ring finger.
Next is the tricky bit, but if you hold your breath and take your time, you'll be grand! Using a black liner, whatever one works for you, line your upper lash line and give yourself a grand flick at the outer corner. Starting at the middle of your eye and working inwards and then outwards with small strokes will mean you'll get a nice even line. If you mess it up, don't worry, you can always apply some black eyeshadow over the top and smudge it out, giving a smokey effect where nobody will know you made a boo boo! This liner from Essence is so easy to work with and you can scrape off most of the product before starting to line your eyes, and build upon it. You can do this!
Apply a couple of coats of your favourite mascara, in my case it's Charlotte Tilbury's Full Fat Lashes. I have this fear if I use false lashes that I'll be that bridie in the pub with her lashes peeling off halfway through the night! So a volumising mascara is the way to go for me.
Take a small amount of the shade DarkHorse under the lower lash line to balance out what's going on on your eyelids.
Blend DarkHorse out using Buck to help finish the look and your eyeballs will be looking gorgeous!
Now is the time to see if you want to add a bit more liner to elongate the flick and in turn your eyes. I wanted a really fine point on my flick, so removed most of the product from the brush, removed even more on the back of my hand until the brush was almost dry, and then with what was remaining, added the most delicate point onto the outer corner of my flick and voila! Eyes are done!
Apply your favourite foundation (one that has no SPF preferably so that there's no flashback in photos) and dust on some blush before getting to work on the lips. If you want your red lips to last, line them and fill them in with a red liner. This one is from Essence and is soft, creamy and super pigmented. You could leave it there if you wanted.
I was looking for an excuse to try out shade 107 from Kate Moss's collection for Rimmel and just look at it. It's a dark blue toned red that feels comfortable on the lips and is the perfect accompaniment to the gold eyes we're rocking.
And you're done! I decided to apply Barry M's Christmas Tree nail paint to really bump of the glitter factor and you're ready for your party! This look is easy to do, will look lovely on everyone and you'll be pouting up a storm in all your selfies. All you need to do now is line the stomach before the drinking starts, take two Panadol and a pint of water before you go to bed and have the ingredients for a fry ready for the next morning!
Happy Christmas!
