The ring-sides were busier than normal as farmers flocked to the sale to sell and buy stock, while others attended to gauge the market place.

Although the store bullock ring was lively, particularly in the first half of the sale, the outstanding trade was for forward store heifers. Farmer buyers and dealers battled it out to secure numbers. Forward heifers over 500kg sold mainly from €2.40/kg to €2.60/kg, with stylish U grades making upwards of 2.70/kg.

The store bullock trade was strong also with farmers active for all types. Forward bullocks from 500kg to 600kg sold mainly from €2.30/kg to €2.55/kg, with better quality types fetching a price premium. Lighter bullocks from 350 to 450kg were in strong demand also and prices ranged mainly from €2.55/kg to €2.80/kg.

On Monday, a special bank holiday weanling sale will commence at 11am.
