According to Paul Nolan, group development manager with Dawn Meats, everyone enlisted onto the processor’s graduate programme is placed in the production area of the business first to help develop their interest, as well as gain a knowledge and understanding of what the business essentially does.

“We often have people who come in and say they would love a job in sales and marketing, and end up loving the production side of things and wish to stay there,” says Paul.

With over 33,000 employees across 12 countries, there are plenty of opportunities in the company’s different areas, including cattle procurement, planning, new product development, technical, accounting and engineering, to name a few.

“We are a passionate and dynamic company that is looking for someone who thinks they will fit into this fast-growing global organisation,” says Paul. “They need to be a self-starter who is good with taking on responsibility.”

The ideal candidate for the graduate programme will have an appropriate qualification, possess strong interpersonal skills and be flexible, mobile and stimulated by new challenges.

It is preferable that candidates will have a full drivers licence and another European or international language, but this is not mandatory.

Mr Nolan emphasises that the Agri Careers Fair is an opportunity for Dawn Meats to engage with members of the public who are interested in working in the agri sector, to come and speak to their staff.

The company is also interested in team leaders to come and work within the company’s production section.

Agri Careers 2017 will take place on Thursday 30 March 2017 in the RDS Main Hall, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, brought to you by Irish Farmers Journal and open eir. Click here for more information.
