The Department of Agriculture is once again looking for facilitators for its knowledge transfer programmes, this time in the poultry, tillage and sheep sectors.
The Department previously looked for facilitators for the knowledge transfer programme for the beef, dairy and equine sectors when the scheme launched back in July 2015.
Those interested in applying may log their expression of interest up until Friday 25 March 2016.
Each approved knowledge transfer facilitator must prepare for and hold a minimum of five knowledge exchange meetings each year and oversee the preparation and submission of a farm improvement plan for each participating farmer. Facilitators will also be responsible for confirming the completion of scheme requirements by participating farmers. This will be completed via a dedicated online system using their existing online registration details.
According to the Department, the knowledge transfer programme builds significantly on the discussion group model and is designed in such a way as to ensure that the farmer and advisor engage in one to one discussion on key aspects of a farmer’s business.
Such areas shall include profitability and financial management, farm health and safety, environmental sustainability, breeding and animal health.
Knowledge Transfer under CAP 2014-2020
Knowledge Transfer is one of a number of measures included under the Pillar Two of the CAP 2014 to 2020 – the Rural Development Programme (RDP) – and is the third-most-funded scheme under the RDP after the Green Low Carbon Agri-Environment Scheme (€1.3bn) and the Beef Data and Genomics Programme (€300m).
