Nitrogen and phosphorus (N&P) statements for the period January to August 2017 are now available on the Department’s online system.
Farmers can access their statements on www.agfood.ie.
The statements allow farmers to plan for the remainder of the year, in order to ensure that they are compliant with the limits of the Nitrates Regulations.

This way, they can avoid penalties for breaching the limits of 170kg of nitrogen/ha or the limit for those who hold an approved derogation is 250kg of nitrogen/ha.
Under the Nitrates Regulations (S.I. 31 of 2014), farmers must not apply more than 170kg of nitrogen from livestock manure per hectare per year.
Compliance with the Nitrates Regulations is one of the statutory management requirements under the Basic Payment Scheme.
