Sheep farmer Johnny Kee says the ewe and her quintuplet lambs are in good health so far.

"They're skipping around the place," he said. "Three of them are big and there are two wee ones. They're healthy enough. It must be the good Donegal air."

The scanning results showed the ewe was going to have twins, so the arrival of three extra lambs on Monday night was unexpected.

"It was a bit of a mix-up," said Johnny. "It's the first time we've had this many. Hopefully we won't get another set of five."

The news has made Johnny a bit of a celebrity in his locality.

"I can't even go down to the shop without people asking me about them" he said.

According to Johnny, this is the first time quintuplet twins have been born in the area.

"A friend of mine had two sets of fours and he was very proud. I've managed to beat him though. It wasn't long until I was one the phone to him," he said.
