The most recent wildfire incident occurred in Kealkil, west Cork on Easter Monday, where a gorse fire spread into nearby forest.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, Finbarr McNulty from Cork County Council said that three units attended the incident: “The call came in around 4pm and we were finished by 8pm last night.”
Since the beginning of the closed season for deliberate burning of vegetation in March, there have been 42 individual fire service call outs in Cork due to wildfires, with 23 occurring in March and 19 to date in April.

Last weekend, dry weather resulted in a spate of wildfires in counties Cork, Kerry, Galway, Tipperary, Laois, Wexford and Carlow.
Teagasc have had an orange status fire danger warning in place from 10 April. The current high risk warning expires on Tuesday (18 April).
