Several Lincolnshire farmers are facing bills of up to £300,000 (€360,000) after landfill waste was dumped on their land. The farmers were paid cash to take in tarmac road planings for use in farm roadways. Instead, they found bales of landfill waste deposited on their land. With the dumpers nowhere to be found, the farmers were left to foot the bill for removal of the bales. The UK’s Environment Agency has warned landowners not to be tempted by quick money and risk being the victim of illegal dumping.
