The jump will take the milk price paid to its suppliers to 37.5c/l. It follows a previous rise of 3.75c/l in November.

The December increase is made up of a correction of 3.5c/l due to under-payment from previous months as dairy product prices improved plus a 1c/l increase for the month.

The December price is broken down from a protein price of €612.14/t, fat at €306.07/t and lactose at €61.21/t.

This will take FrieslandCampina’s guaranteed milk price for all of 2016 to an average of 28.38c/l. The 2015 guaranteed milk price was 30.68c/l. Including a performance payment plus meadow milk premium (allowing cows to graze for a few hours) and special supplement and reservation member bonds, the 2015 milk price came to 34.64c/l.

The FrieslandCampina guaranteed milk price is paid at 3.47% protein, 4.41% fat and 4.51% lactose. The Irish Farmers Journal Milk league milk price comparison is now 3.49% protein, 4.41% fat based on previous year’s CSO figures.
