By on
Prices reported by the European Commission this week point to an end in the rise observed since the start of this year.
Prices reported by the European Commission this week point to an end in the rise observed since the start of this year.

The average pig carcase price across the EU is €1.738/kg, the same as last week. The consistent increases recorded since January accelerated in April, but slowed down markedly this month and now appear to have stopped. The same applies to piglet prices.

In Ireland, the prices reported to the IFA this week averaged €1.645/kg, well short of the EU average.
