When Carol Lawless, Rachel Daly and Shannon-Kelly Smith first set up their Farmers Daughters Blog on Facebook they gained 4,000 followers in just three days.

Now they have 4,943 likes on their page, the 'About' section of which describes as a "page by 3 girls to help farmers daughters find their ideal farmer husbands with tips from experts. Are you a suitable bachelor? Get in contact."

The three girls are all college students and are from a farming background. One of their missions with the page is to show people that Irish farmers are not the "gummy, smelly culchies" they’re often represented as.

And although Carol said she would never marry a farmer because they "work too hard", Rachel is "only dying to catch one".

Every day the girls receive nominations for their 'Farmer of the Day' which features a picture of a young eligible farmer with a short description of his background and his likes and dislikes.

Females who visit the page are invited to like the post and comment if they're interested or tag other females who they think would be a good match.

One of the posts reads: "Meet today's lovely Cavan farmer Cian O'Reilly! Not only is he a owner of 50 acres and milks 35 cows but he also managed to land himself a spot studying dairy business in UCD.

"Cian enjoys casually dressing up as a hipster and playing with butterflies! Tara his bestfriend tells us how he loves to attend mass on a Saturday followed by a few pints down in the local.

"Cian is interested in all sorts including the ''beef to the heel like a Mullingar heifer'' type so ladies you know who to call...."

So ladies, (and men), what are you waiting for? Like and comment away and good luck!
