Pöttinger reports record turnover

Austrian-based farm machinery company Pöttinger has reported another increase in turnover in 2013/14 to €314m.

Sales of grassland machinery accounted for 61% of turnover at the world’s leading silage wagon maker – a 3% increase over the previous year. Tillage machinery sales accounted for 26% of turnover (up 5%), while parts remained at 7%. Exports account for 85% of turnover.

Pöttinger said that export growth in markets, including Ireland, where it has a Clonmel-based subsidiary, saw strong development. Ireland was also listed among the top five countries in terms of turnover growth, with what it described as a sensational 96% increase in turnover compared with the previous startup year of the company in Ireland.

Fleming success down under

Fleming Agri-Products, based in New Buildings, Northern Ireland, has recently secured orders to supply its range of equipment to New Zealand and Australia.

Over the past few years, Fleming has carried out comprehensive product and market research in the southern hemisphere, identifying sales potential for its range of machines.

Following a number of successful trips down under, orders were secured for a selected range of Fleming equipment from customers in eastern Australia and New Zealand.

The most recent customer to sign up is based in Tasmania. After successful sales of Fleming equipment of this company’s first consignment, a second order of machinery is in the process of being placed.

Fleming invested £1.1m (€1.37m) in a factory expansion in early 2013. John Fleming said that this has resulted in the company being able to put a greater emphasis on efficiency, quality and finish, as well as producing value-for-money machinery.

Remanufactured MF components

Massey Ferguson reports that more than 500 key components spanning 15 product groups are now available under the AGCO Reman scheme for MF tractors and combines. The range covers all generations of machines from the late 1970s through to current models. “Typically, a remanufactured engine, for example, costs 30% less than the price of a new unit and yet has the same performance, the same specification and comes with a full 12-month warranty – identical to an equivalent new engine,” said Russ Wheatley, AGCO Reman business manager.

This week’s machine of the week on the Irish Farmers Journal’s advertising website www.toplink.ie is this 1996 Landini 10000 four-wheel-drive tractor. This 103hp tractor comes with a creeper gearbox and is powered by a six-cylinder Perkins engine with 5,175 hours on the clock. This is a mechanically sound tractor with 90% 18.4 x 34 tyres on the rear and some front tyre wear. Eamonn McDermott at Eamonn McDermott Tractors & Farm Machinery, Shranacolly, Keenagh, Ballina, Co Mayo (096-53000), is asking for €12,000 including VAT for the tractor.
