If you are a lover of everything from cava to rueda and albariño, get set to celebrate the second annual Spanish wine week, which runs from 23-30 April.

Events take place across the country and every day during Spanish Wine Week people will get the opportunity to experience a different aspect or flavour from the wide variety of areas and regions that make up the most widely planted wine-producing nation and the third-largest producer of wine in the world.

Some highlights include an in-depth look at some hidden gems of Spanish wine in The Twelve in Galway. Boyles of Kildare will be hosting an evening of tasting and storytelling, featuring three whites from Galicia and three reds from Navarra. In Cork, Rafael Salazar of Vinostito will lead a tasting of Spanish organic and natural Wines in L’Atitude 51, while the Farmgate Café in the English Market hosts a special Spanish supper club, pairing three courses with a selection of Spanish wines, including a cava, and a Catalan red and white.

Wine stores will also have a huge selection of offers throughout Spanish Wine Week, including O’Briens Wines who have in-store discounts, ely wine bar & brasserie who have special lunch and dinner offers, and Fallon & Byrne who have no corkage on all Spanish wines in their wine cellar for the week.

These are just a snapshot of what is taking place. For more information and a full list of events, log on to www.spanishwineweek.ie
