Atlantic Treasures

Smoked fish has long been a tradition in Ireland. Island Seafoods Ltd, Donegal, decided to keep that tradition going by developing its Atlantic Treasures range, which now includes mackerel with a honey and mustard glaze and mackerel with a ginger, chili and lime glaze.

The success of these products had lead to the honey and mustard glaze mackerel winning the Great Taste Award in 2012 and the ginger, chili and lime mackerel winning the Great Taste Award in 2014.

The business has since introduced a hot smoked herring with orange and rosemary butter, as well as the most recent addition: hot salmon smoked with sundried tomato and chilli butter – which was awarded the Blas na hEireann Chefs Choice in October 2014.

This latest healthy fast food is high in omega three and is a healthy choice for those who don’t have time to make dinner.

The products retail at €2.49 for the herring, €3.49 for the mackerel and €5.49 for the salmon.

They’re available in Dunnes Stores, SuperValu and Tesco nationwide.
