Collections for the week 15 August to 21 August totalled 429.5kt, which is 1.5% behind the same week in 2015. Meanwhile, for the week 22 August to 28 August, collections totalled 421.3kt, 3.7% behind figures from the previous year.
These results bring the accumulative collection figures from the beginning of the season on 4 April to the end of August to 9.89m tonnes, a total decrease of 1.4% on the same point last season.
The trend is reflected around the globe, with countries including Italy, New Zealand, the UK and Australia all reporting a decrease in milk collections in recent times.
