According to the Connacht Tribune, the man was “living in a container with no toilet facilities”.

It is alleged that he had been working for two months without pay, before making a complaint to the gardaí.

Gardaí have confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that they are investigating the complaint.

A spokesperson for the Workplace Relations Commission declined to comment on this specific case, but told the Irish Farmers Journal that Investigations into forced labour and human trafficking are matters for the Gardaí under the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008.
