Michael O’Leary, he of Ryanair fame, held his annual Gigginstown Angus herd pedigree sale on Saturday last. The sale, which achieved a 100% clearance rate for bulls and heifers, attracted its fair share of tyre-kickers too, who came for the day out.
Because of the huge volume of cars and jeeps that didn’t bring a trailer on the day, O’Leary said he would look at charging for car parking next year.

And on the 100% clearance rate sale where bulls averaged over €3,200, was he surprised?
Not at all, he said. His stock are cheap and good value, “just like Ryanair flights” he told The Dealer.
