The Department of Agriculture has said that 1,000 GLAS farmers who are currently blocked from applying for their Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) will be able to proceed this week.
Some 800 farmers in GLAS III and a further 200 farmers in GLAS I and GLAS II had been prevented from submitting their BPS applications online while work was ongoing on their GLAS plans.
However, those farmers will have access to the BPS 2017 applications “this week”, according to the Department.

The GLAS I and II farmers will have their BPS 2017 opened up to them without GLAS details, while the GLAS III farmers’ applications will be finalised in the coming weeks and the farmers notified of their status of their application.
The GLAS scheme has been plagued by delays, with some 3,100 farmers still unpaid and a large number who will not be paid, according to the Department.
