New Zealand milk production posted a 1.6% decline for August to 1.3m tonnes as wet weather in the winter months hit early season production on farms. Both islands of New Zealand were affected by rains, particularly the north island.

Abares, Australia’s crop research bureau, has cut its forecast for the country’s wheat export prospects this season as severe drought hits grains. In a report released this week, Abares pegged Australian wheat exports at less than 18.2m tonnes, a near 3m reduction on previous estimates.

Argentinian beef exports will reach 350,000t in 2018, according to the latest beef supply and demand report issued by the US Department of Agriculture. The strong growth in exports would return Argentina to the top 10 largest exporters in the world.

Drought in regions of Alberta and Saskatchewan means Canada’s oilseed rape crop for this year will be lower than last year. The country’s agriculture ministry has forecast an oilseed rape crop of just over 18m tonnes, which is about 1.4m tonnes lower than last season’s crop.
