USA – soya bean exports remain behind last year

After the week ending 9 March, US soya bean exports for the 2017/18 season stood at 39.7m tonnes, which is down on the 45m tonnes exported in the same period last year. China remains the largest buyer of US soya bean.

New Zealand – mixed results for dairy exports in January

New Zealand dairy exports for January stood at 288,000t, which is up 4% year on year. WMP exports increased 16% to 151,500t, while infant formula exports were up 64% to 5,400t. However, there were big declines in exports of cheese (-10%), butter (-12%) and SMP (-7%).

Russia – 2018 wheat production forecast higher

SovEcon, the Russian market analyst group, has lifted its forecast for Russian wheat production for the 2018 season by 900,000t to just under 78m tonnes. The group has pegged Russian wheat exports in 2018 at just under 37m tonnes.

Uruguay – beef exports higher in 2018

Uruguayan beef exports for the first two months of 2018 increased 13% year on year to close to 84,000t. China is by far the largest export market, taking 38,000t in January and March, while beef exports to the US were just under 10,000t.
