A large sale of cattle at Clogher Mart this week was met with a very strong demand. In total, 997 animals came under the hammer, which is high for the time of year.
In the fat ring, cow heifers sold to a top price of £1,345 for a 690kg Limousin animal, followed by a 780kg Limousin animal selling to £1,221. Plainer cows sold from £1.20/kg to £1.42/kg, with Friesian cows selling for £1 to £1.18/kg.
Heavy steers from 510kg to 660kg sold from £1.70/kg to £1.90/kg, with dairy-cross animals selling back to £1.20/kg. Fat heifers sold from £1.60/kg to £2/kg.

Store cattle saw the best trade and demand. Bullocks from 410kg to 480kg sold from £890 to £1,040, with heifers at the same range selling from £885 to £1,005.
Bull calves sold from £435 back to £340 for animals under two months of age, with reared bull calves making from £560 to £645/head.
