The death took place last week of Angela Morrissey, Bansha, Co Tipperary. She was the mother of country singer Louise Morrissey. Angela (nee Boland) was very much at the heart of the family tradition and loved the music scene. She was predeceased by her husband Jackie. Condolences to her sons Billy, Norman and John, daughters Noreen, Marie and Louise, and all her family and friends.

Midwest Radio celebrates 25 years on air with a special concert and party night in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on 21 July. Danny and Mary O’Leary have released their new single. The Manchester Rambler was composed by Ewan MacColl and was a hit song for Sean O Sé many years ago.

John McNicholl has released a new single, One, Two Three, an uptempo country dance number. The Derry man performs with his band in The Belfray Country Inn, Drumahoe, Co Derry, on 18 July, and in The Ramble Inn near Ballymena on 19 July.

Shannonside Northern Sound Radio is holding a Night With The Stars concert in Hotel Kilmore, Cavan, on 22 July. The show features Mike Denver, Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell, Patrick Feeney, Michael English, Philomena Begley, Aidan Quinn, Pat McKenna and Big O.

Mike Denver plays the Greenhills Hotel in Limerick this Thursday, 17 July. He is enjoying a big summer hit with Tommy K, a song composed by The Sawdoctors about the late Tommy Kavanagh, a DJ from the Tuam area.
