The annual Dunderry Fair Day takes place in Meath on 10 May. Providing a real country music flavour to the day will be Matt Leavy, Charlie Arkins and Old Stagecoach, Mick Flavin, Ray Murtagh, Paul Leavy, Mary O’Connor and Eddie Quinn. There will also be an open-air céilí with Glenside Céilí Band. It promises to be a great family day and all proceeds go to local charities.

Some weeks ago we carried a feature on Richie Kavanagh and the unprecedented Facebook success of his Chicken Talk song. We can now report that the Carlow man’s song has topped almost 4,500,000 views. Chicken Talk has become a cult hit in many parts of the world.

Pat McKenna of Glenshane Country continues to enjoy great popularity on the airwaves. His latest single, Better Times I Can’t Remember, continues his long list of hit numbers on the regional stations. Pat and Hughie were a runaway success on the Enjoy Travel holiday in Torremolinos, Spain, last week.

We extend best wishes for a speedy recovery to Dave Moynihan of the Wexford-based Moynihan Brothers. Dave recently underwent an operation and the lads had to cancel their trip to Spain with Enjoy Travel. He is now making good progress and hopes to be back on stage in the coming days.

Dermot Hegarty is putting the finishing touches to his first album in a number of years. The Longford man scored a massive success in the Irish charts over 40 years ago with Twenty One Years, a song that remains popular to this day. He has resided in England for many years.

Peter McAuliffe from Cork has one of those captivating voices. His rendition of Amazing Grace at the Enjoy Travel Sunday mass in Spain last week was truly special.
