After the glorious sunshine last week and scattered showers since, grass growth has been rocketing.

The sunshine and increased temperatures were very much needed given the long wet and cold spring we have had.

Balers and wrappers were pulled out of their winter hibernation as farmers took out surplus grass from strong paddocks over the weekend. The quality of this grass will be excellent and should ensile well given the high dry matter and high sugar content. Growth rates in general are ranging from 75kg DM/ha to 120kg DM/ha and even higher in some places.
