Of the 130 applicants to apply for the Emergency Flood Damage Relief Scheme, only 28 have been paid to date, the Irish Farmers Journal can reveal.

According to figures released by the Department of Agriculture, a further 65 of those who applied have been deemed ineligible for payment.

Emergency flood damage relief compensation is available to farmers under three categories – loss of livestock, damage to fixed agricultural structure and fittings, and the necessity to move livestock to alternate housing.
