The Tipperary Cut Loose Country Festival is ready to roll in Holycross on Sunday afternoon, 19 July. There is a lot of interest and a few thousand people are expected to make the trip to Tipp. The lineup features Nathan Carter, Michael English, Robert Mizzell, Mike Denver and Lisa McHugh.

Rhinestone Cowboy is 40 this year. The song, written by Larry Weiss, was a massive success for Glen Campbell. It stayed at the top of the Irish charts for six weeks, the longest by any artist in 1975. Only two Irish singers hit the number one spot here in 1975. Red Hurley spent a week at the top in May with Love Is All, while Brendan Grace topped the chart in December with Combine Harvester.

A night in memory of the late Tom Campbell from Bundoran will be held at the Allingham Arms Hotel in Bundoran on 12 August. Tom was a highly regarded singer on the regional country circuit and had laid down tracks for a new album at the time of his sudden death. The proceeds from the night will go to the Irish Heart Foundation.

The annual Garland Weekend social dance takes place on Friday 24 July, at 9pm in White Hall, Keash, Ballymote, Co Sligo. Ann Sheppard tells us that Mary Rose and Enda will provide the music on this occasion. Admission is just €5.

Michael Collins from Limerick was among those featured prominently on an RTÉ Radio One documentary programme last Saturday afternoon. The programme centred mainly around wedding bands.

From Then Until Forever is the brand new single from Patsy Harte from Strabane. The song was composed by Vincent Soye. Patsy is a popular performer on the northern circuit and is often featured on Radio Ulster.
