The 75th Royal Meath Show takes place in the Porch Fields, Trim, on 6 September. The Leavy brothers, Matt and Paul, will provide the music from 2pm and they will be accompanied by the Celtic Blondes. Entry is €10. Ethel Lydon, press officer with the show, says they are all looking forward to the celebrations.

Condolences are tendered to Rose and Big Tom McBride and family on the death of her sister, Kathleen Lucak, in Syracuse, New York. Kathleen was formerly King from Oran, Castleblayney.

Annmarie O’Riordan is looking forward to her first visit to Clare Island on 4 September. The Cork singer will perform in concert at the community centre for the opening night of Féile na Oileain.

One of country music’s legendary producers and acclaimed songwriter Billy Sherrill has died in Nashville. Sherill (78) co-wrote some of the biggest country hits of the 1970s, including Stand By Your Man with Tammy Wynette as well as The Most Beautiful Girl in The World for Charlie Rich. In 2010, he was inducted into the country music Hall of Fame.

Dominic Kirwan and Mary Duff bring their Together in Concert tour to the Ardee Parish Centre on 5 September and to Sion Mills Parish Centre on 7 September.

Never Ending Song of Love is the debut single from Emma Cahill, Annagassan, Co Louth. The song was a big hit for the New Seekers back in 1971. Emma’s version was produced by Tony Reilly in Kingscourt.
