IFA HQ confirms Connacht election deadlock

IFA national returning officer Jer Bergin has announced that no candidate has been validly nominated for the position of Connacht regional chairman.

IFA HQ confirms Connacht election deadlock

Bergin made the announcement in a statement following the close of nominations this Friday evening.

This was the second time to run the nomination process in Connacht.

"The National Rules Committee will meet next week to discuss the situation," the IFA stated.

Each of the region's five county executives backed one candidate, but none of them received the two nominations required to run.
