DEAR SIR:

It is welcome news that the IFA has at last taken on board the scourge of the actions of vulture funds in this country and how they are affecting the farming community.

Those vultures have been allowed by a Fine Gael-led Government to wreak devastation and hardship on householders, businesses and farm families throughout the country for the past few years, resulting in businesses and farms being lost and homes being repossessed leading to many evictions.

Maybe, now that the IFA has taken a position on this issue, the Government might sit up and take note.

However, it is sad that in the past Minister Michael Noonan welcomed the actions of these vulture funds. How could he be so insensitive and indifferent to peoples’ misfortune and plight? These vulture funds should be outlawed and their sales boycotted as they lack any sense of decency and compassion for their victims. They have no place in society, even though it has been claimed that some of our landlord TDs have made house purchases at such sales. These vultures are only here to make a quick killing on other people’s misfortune.

Pressure needs to be brought to bear on our Government to end this disgraceful tirade against genuine hardworking people who have fallen down on their luck and are just trying to get on with their lives as best they can.

All sections of society need to wake up to the reality of the actions of these vulture funds and the strain they may be putting on their neighbours who may have fallen into financial difficulties.

It is up to all the people to stand together on this issue, as it is claimed actions of vulture funds have sadly resulted in people taking their own lives. It could easily be anyone’s problem tomorrow.
