There was continued strong demand for forward store bullocks in Bandon Mart this week.

Prices ranged from €1.82/kg for Friesians while up to €2.37/kg was available for continentals. Angus and Herefords sold from €2.05/kg up to €2.33/kg.

Spring 2016 bullocks were a better sell in comparison with recent weeks. A bank holiday boom of sorts may have been part of the reason, while these cattle also had better weight for age compared with those on offer at recent sales. Friesians made between €190 and €570 with their weight and traditional beef crosses sold for between €260 and €880 over the €/kg.

There were more continental bullocks than usual and these sold well, making up to €895 with their weight.
