“The crib reminds us of the simplicity of the Christmas message and represents a small piece of the countryside in the heart of Dublin’s vibrant bustling streets,” said Lord Mayor of Dublin Brendan Carr.
“I want to thank the Irish Farmers Association for their generous gift of the animals and their continuous care throughout their stay at the live animal crib,” Carr said. “I encourage all Dubliners – young and not so young – to come along to see the crib in its new Christmas winter wonderland setting and enjoy a little Christmas magic on Dawson Street. All donations received will be distributed by the Mansion House Fuel Fund to some very worthy charities to help those in need in Dublin.”
This traditional nativity scene, which farmers have gifted to the people of Dublin, is a symbol of our largest indigenous industry
“As a representation of farming life in this country, the crib brings joy and excitement to young and old, but it is very special for young families,” said IFA president Joe Healy. “This traditional nativity scene, which farmers have gifted to the people of Dublin, is a symbol of our largest indigenous industry. The partnership between the Lord Mayor of Dublin and the Irish Farmers Association also raises funds for some very worthy charities and I look forward to large numbers taking some time to enjoy the live animal crib between now and Christmas Eve.”
Entrance to the crib is free, but donations are welcome to the Mansion House Fuel Fund.
