Irish Farmers Journal reader Rory Liston sent in pictures of a group from Ireland pitting silage in Invercargill in the Southland region of New Zealand; one of the southernmost cities in the world.

The group were pitting silage recently for the wintering of 4,000 dairy cows and heifers in one block of land in Te Anau, in the South Island of New Zealand.

Operating the harvester was Michael Condon from Co Tipperary. The trailers were operated by Rory, David Shanahan, Paddy Larry Kelly and Conor Byrne, who all hail from Co Limerick. The loader driver was Maurice Healy, originally from Co Kerry. Shane Tyrell was the rake driver and the mower was Paul Murray, both from Co Offaly.

Daryl Thompson was the contractor and Ryal Bush Transport supplied the group with the tractors and trailers.

Rory told the Irish Farmers Journal: "We've had very wet season so far, finally getting weather now though."
