Ireland fell from fifth to sixth place on the EU league table of R3 heifer prices this month, with a heifer price of 397.0c/kg in the week ending 27 September. This is back 7.9c/kg from the 404.9c/kg paid at the end of August.

The Irish price is 4.1c/kg above the EU average price and 51.5c/kg lower than the equivalent price in Northern Ireland.

Britain retained the top spot in the EU league table of R3 heifer price, with an equivalent price of 487.3c/kg in the week ending 27 September. This was an increase of 7.3c/kg compared to the end of August when it was the equivalent of 480.0c/kg.

In the week ending 27 September, the R3 heifer price in NI was the equivalent of 448.5c/kg, back 3.3c/kg from 451.8c/kg.

In the week ending 27 September 2015, the average R3 heifer price in the EU was 392.9c/kg, down 3.9c/kg from 396.8c/kg in the week ending 30 August 2015.

The euro was down at €1= 73.0p at the end of September.
