Good morning. In the news today: a new board member at Dairygold, increase in income for employees in Irish agriculture, and a protest against executive board planned for next IFA council meeting.

Weather forecast
Wet and windy early this morning with persistent rain and strong, gusty southerly winds. The rain will clear eastwards later in the morning. Sunny spells and blustery showers will follow for the rest of the day with fresh, gusty southwest winds. Becoming colder with afternoon temperatures of 7°C to 10°C.
This evening, rain will become persistent along the west coast and will move across the country early tonight before clearing later in the night. It will become cold after the rain clears with temperatures falling to between 3°C and 6°C with fresh southwest winds.

Election season in Dairygold has thrown out a new name to sit on the board. Ger Dwyer, a dairy and beef farmer from Limerick, fought off stiff competition to win his seat on the board.
The latest report from Eurostat shows an increase in the average income of those employed in the Irish agriculture sector, compared with a drop in many other EU member states.
After votes of no confidence in the executive board from three county executives last week, including Limerick, Limerick IFA is co-ordinating a demonstration at the next meeting of the national council in Dublin in order to show support for those counties asking for the resignation of the executive board.
And after making significant gains since the beginning of December, futures contracts for WMP retreated in value by more than 9% in the last week.
Plus, for the 12 weeks ending 6 December, SuperValu has remained top of the league when it comes to share of the Irish grocery retailer market.
