London Global Win for Sweden

Unusually for course builder Uliano Veszzani, there were all of 12 double-clears to jump a third round against the clock in last weekend’s top-quality London round of the Global Champions Tour. Then, with the fastest of four treble-clears, the £80,000 first prize went to Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson on the stallion Casall ASK by Caretino. He was home by split seconds ahead of British veteran John Whitaker on his new star Argento, by Arko, to take second.

Ireland’s only contender, Denis Lynch went out in the first round on eight faults. In a two-phase event at the show, Darragh Kenny came fourth on Picolo. In Sunday’s jump-off, Denis Lynch and All Star had one of 14 clears. Second to go against the clock, he put up a good time of 38.08 and finished third behind Britain’s Laura Renwick who was around in 37.32 on Bintong.
