Assistant brewer would be viewed as a dream job by many. This is just one of the roles up for grabs at the Carlow Brewing Company – also known as O’Hara’s Brewery – that has just announced plans for expansion, creating 12 new jobs and bringing staff numbers up to 50. There are also two brewery operator roles to be filled.

The company was established in 1996 and produces stouts, wheat beers, ales and lagers and the Falling Apple craft cider brand.

The 12 permanent positions will be filled within three months. Commenting on the announcement, Seamus O’Hara, CEO of Carlow Brewing Company, said: “We are currently looking to add more space to our operations and in time this will facilitate further expansion and lead to additional jobs.”

All of the new jobs will be located in Carlow. However, with the export-related roles there will be a requirement for travel. Carlow Brewing Company is looking for applicants with three to five years’ experience. Other vacancies include: supply chain manager, two export sales roles, a sales key account manager in Ireland, someone in electrical maintenance, two accounts administrators, another administrator role that includes HR and a PA/general administrator.

Carlow Brewing Company is supported in job expansion by Enterprise Ireland.

The company is also planning to take on two to three people later this year through the Export Orientation Program (EOP) run by IBEC and Bord Bia. Those recruits will be based abroad.
