The enduring legacy of Hank Williams is the inspiration behind the new release from Jordan Mogey.

The song, Luke The Drifter, is a co-write by Jordan and his friend Joe McShane, the Armagh native who has resided in Chicago for many years.

Luke The Drifter was the pseudonym used by Hank back in 1950/51 when he was compiling an album comprising mainly of sad narrations. The name came about after Fred Rose, who worked closely with Hank, urged him to keep the two styles apart. And so was born Luke The Drifter, allowing him to write lyrics more from the dark side of life.

The new release from Jordan, produced by Clive Culbertson in his studios in Coleraine, marks a welcome return to the scene for the young man from Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

Jordan is also working away on his second album, which will be released later this year.

I’ll Leave This World Loving You was the song that brought Jordan to the attention of many. He was among the nominees for the young country artist of the year award at the RTÉ Irish Country Music Awards, sponsored by the Irish Farmers Journal, in Dublin back in June.

He was also honoured with a Irish Country Sound award for best newcomer the previous year.
