Top Three tips for entering the Awards:
1. Photographs: Ensure the photographs are a true representative of each category (farmyard design, farmyard appearance, health and safety, landscaping, shelter belting and biodiversity).
2. Health and Safety: Have a good walk around and tidy up the yard. Pay particular attention to any health and safety issues and have a risk assessment document at the ready
3. Pride: Be yourself and be proud to speak about your farm yard and the work that has gone in to maintaining it.
Some things the judges look out for:
Good, functional, working farm that has not been idle for a number of yearsGood signageAwareness of health and safetyA child friendly environment and attention to their well-being on the farmHow to enter:
1. Photos: Gather six or more photographs of your farm yard. Each of these should be named and related to the judges criteria mentioned below.
2. Cover letter: In 200 words, outline why you should win the competition. Include your name, address, email and phone number.
3. Send: Email the photographs and cover letter by Friday, 30 June 2017 to farmyard@farmersjournal.ie or alternatively, post entries to: FBD Insurance Farmyard Competition, Irish Farmers Journal, Irish Farm Centre, Bluebell, Dublin 12.
