Once in a while a singer comes along who stands out from the crowd. Kathy Crinion can lay claim to such status. Patrons at Trim Castle Hotel will experience this magic first hand, when Kathy headlines a special show at the Meath venue on next Monday night, 8 December. It is almost impossible not to associate her smooth voice with that of the legendary Karen Carpenter. Kathy handles her songs with consummate ease. Her rendition of the beautifully crafted I’m Just Not That Lonely Anymore is truly special. It’s a voice and rendition that will carry folks of a certain age right back to the heart of the 1970s.

This new song was penned for Kathy in a collaboration with Wood Newton, who won the Grammy for Riding with Private Malone, David Ball, and top Scandinavian writer Tore Andersen. Production is by Pete Ware (Charlie Landsborough’s long-time producer) and was recorded in both Spain and Ireland, with vocals engineered by David Arkins, son of legendary Irish fiddle player, Charlie Arkins. Kathy is due to perform at the Bluebird Café in Nashville, in the coming months. But her outreach is not just in music alone. She has written books that are currently in use in Irish schools. Her uncle, Roger Johnson, served as Mayor of Liverpool and she has performed before many well-known and famous people in recent years.

Joining Kathy at the Trim Castle Hotel will be Liam Reilly (Bagatelle), Steve Martyn, Matt Leavy, Trevor Smith, Ray Murtagh, Shane O’Neill, Frank Foley and Gary Stoker. Booking is advisable.

“Kathy is a superb artist,” says promoter Howard Dee. “More and more radio stations are beginning to realise her potential and feature her music. Just watch her star soar in the coming months.”
