One of the latest three-point linkage disc mowers available from Krone importer Farmhand is the Krone EasyCut R 360 mower.

“Bigger dairy farmers are the target market for this new Krone ECR 360 mower,” according to Val McAuley of Farmhand.

“The cutting width is 3.6m, which means you can mow and top a lot faster than most mowers out there. And 100hp is ample to handle it as it folds over-centre for transport on the road,” says Val.

The EasyCut cutter bar has SafeCut stone protection hubs and also SmartCut, which means that the operator can reverse the direction of any of the discs. The machine comes with swath-boards both sides and a stand so you can park it quickly and safely.

Val adds that the ECR360 is the very latest of the Krone EasyCut mower generation with an impressively sturdy headstock and with the most advanced centre-pivot suspension arrangement to date.

According to Tom O’Connor, area sales manager: “With our Krone Finance, this machine can be purchased for under €3,000 including VAT a year over five years – no trade-in.”

Lely Ireland Ltd introduced its latest trailed Splendimo 280 PC with a working width of 2.80m and a steel flail conditioner recently. The Splendimo 280 PC is quite compact and has a transport width of 2.60m.

In designing the Splendimo 280 PC, Lely made the supporting frame as large as possible with the wheels placed internally. Lely says that this has allowed for the use of an exceptionally wide conditioning rotor to optimise crop throughput from the cutter bar.

This conditioner design, with steel flails and extendable swath boards, enables narrow swath widths. An easily adjustable wide spreading device is also available.

The frame of the machine also includes two double acting rams to control ground pressure as well as raising and lowering the mower. The piston rods on either side of the mower are connected on one side to a single acting ram that forms part of a closed circuit.

By adjusting the pressure within the system, the operator controls ground pressure from the cab. Lely claims that reaction times on headlands are exceptionally fast, as the hydraulic system and lifting rams are independent.

Lely’s Q111 modular cutter bar features larger mowing discs as well as an innovative mower bed safety device integrated into the drive of the mower disc. The Quick Switch Shear Bolt protects the driveline of the cutter bar against obstacles.

As soon as an obstacle is hit, a ring with pins fitted directly underneath the mowing disc, shears. Any damage is restricted to this ring, which can be replaced in a matter of minutes, ensuring low maintenance costs, according to Lely.

The cutter bar is easily accessible for maintenance by simply lifting the two hoods. Magnets in the protection cover hold it on the hood.

Lely states that the Splendimo 280 PC was extensively tested in Irish conditions. It adds that the mower line was also developed in collaboration with Lely’s American strategic partner, Vermeer.
