Labour saving tip: trailer friendly tractor weight
This tractor weight is very handy for loading bales of silage onto a trailer, once the bales are loaded the trailer can be attached again without taking off the weight.
Eddie Coleman from Ballyine, Borris, Co Carlow, made this weight carrier last summer.
He was having issues balancing the tractor while loading heavy silage bales on to a trailer and decided something needed to be done.

Eddie had 40kg of weights for the front of his 100hp tractor already. He made a special frame to carry the weights on the back of the tractor. The main benefit of having this special frame over other tractor weights on the market is the fact a trailer can be picked up without taking the weights off the back of the tractor.
Eddie says it is ideal for drawing bales because he isn’t wasting time taking off and putting on the weights. He said it will also fit on the front linkage of the tractor if required. “We used it last summer and it worked very well and made it a lot safer loading heavy bales,” explained Eddie.
