LacPatrick, formerly Town of Monaghan, increased its July milk prices by 0.5c/litre to round off the process of co-ops setting for the month.

LacPatrick’s near neighbours Lakeland led the increases in prices for July. The 1c/l increase by the co-op was the first from any co-op for more than two years. Glanbia, Arrabawn and Aurivo all increased by 1c/l while Dairygold went up 1.5c/l. Kerry and the Carbery co-ops held price for July.

Kerry’s decision not increase has raised anger among its farmer suppliers. Kerry ICMSA chair Kevin Galvin said Kerry farmers are demanding a price increase for August milk.

“Farmers on the ground are under severe pressure at the minute and then to be greeted with no increase has generated a lot of anger. We would demand a milk price increase for August,” Galvin said.
