With a 1p/litre increase in base price and a 3p/litre winter bonus, Lakeland Dairies holds on to the top spot in the December’s milk league.
The 1p/l increase brings the Lakeland base price to 24.5p/l for December.
When combined with its winter bonus, producers were starting from a price of 27.5p/l before allowing for milk quality adjustments and volume incentives.
In the December league, a 650,000-litre Lakeland supplier with typical seasonality supply, milk fat of 4.12%, protein of 3.32%, TBC of 18 and SCC of 206, was paid an average of 28.67p/l based on alternate day collection.
Dale Farm held on to second spot for December by paying a price of 27.03p/l based on the same milk quality and collection arrangement.
Dale Farm increased its December base price by 0.5p/l bringing it to 24p/l, as well as paying its 2p/l winter bonus and 0.3p/l loyalty bonus.
Aurivo are in third position, paying 26.58p/l, which includes a base price of 24.5p/l, an increase of 1p/l, as well as a winter bonus of 1p/l for all milk supplied during December.
Strongest base price
Glanbia Milk and Fivemiletown actually paid the strongest base price for December when all winter bonus payments are excluded.
At 24.9p/l, the Glanbia Milk base price was up 1p/l from November.
Instead of a dedicated winter bonus, Glanbia continues to pay its 0.6p/l bonus on all milk across the full year. After adjustments, with a price of 26.53p/l, it is placed fourth in the league.
Glanbia Cheese is in sixth position with an average price of 26.42p/litre payable to their Red Tractor suppliers, which now accounts for the majority of its milk pool.
It chose not to increase its December base price, remaining on 23.25p/l but it paid a 2p/l winter bonus on top of the base and it also continues to suspend collection charges.
Strathroy paid 26.01p/l to suppliers who possess Red Tractor status, which is 0.2p/l higher than the price paid to its suppliers who do not meet Red Tractor requirements.
Its base price of 24p/l remains unchanged from November, as does its winter bonus of 1p/l.
LacPatrick increased its December base price by 1.5p/l to 24.5p/l putting it on a par with Lakeland and Aurivo.
However, without any winter bonus payable in December, it leaves it with an average price of 25.72p/l with an additional 0.2p/l payable to suppliers who have Red Tractor status.
