Lamb quotes have fallen by 20c/kg to 30c/kg in the past week as factories cite weak export markets including a depreciating sterling.

Regardless of the exchange rate, prices at Northern factories have dropped by 15p/kg too.

Base quotes now range from €4.80/kg to €5.00/kg, with Moyvalley’s all-in quote an outlier at €5.10/kg.

While farmers secured up to €5.35/kg earlier this week, this droppped sharply on Wednesday.

Lamb prices have now dropped by €10/head over the past three weeks.
