After recording a decline at the last auction, the GDT index bounced back slightly at this week’s event with the benchmark dairy index lifting by 1.4%. With less than 32,000t of product offered for sale this week, the increase in the GDT index was driven by increases in the price of whole milk powder (WMP), butter and anhydrous milk fat.

The average price of WMP increased by almost 3% to $2,760/t, while butter prices were up 2.6% to just under $4,000/t.

The average selling price of anhydrous milk fat lifted by more than 1% to $5,000/t, while there were also increases in the average price of lactose (+6%) and butter milk powder (+0.2%).
