I have been asked to carry a brief outline on the required documentation for temporary grazing. Where sheep are moving to a tillage or livestock farm that currently has no animals, there is no requirement to notify DAFM of movements. This remains the same where sheep are moving to a farm with livestock but are grazing on an out-farm or separate parcel of land where no animals are located.

Where sheep are moving to a holding where animals are located (housed or still grazing), then movement to and from the holding must be recorded with your local DVO office. This can be done by the owner sending the pink copy of the dispatch document to DAFM (responsibility with owner as no change in ownership) when the sheep move to the holding and the white copy to DAFM noted ‘return from temporary grazing’ when sheep are moving back.
