Some 700 applications have been received by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to date for deer hunting licenses for the 2017/18 season.
A Department spokesperson said all licensed deer hunters (over 4,700) were circulated with the application form for the forthcoming season last month. “They have been encouraged to submit their completed application forms before the end of June in order to ensure they receive their licences by 1 September,” the spokesperson said.
The season starts on 1 September for all male Red, Sika and Fallow deer. All Muntjac deer can be shot from 1 September.
