Quality trumps speed

The final was a fine spectacle that saw Scott rekindle his rivalry with Derry man Jack Robinson, who has pushed Scott close and got the better of him on occasions in recent years. Robinson finished just seconds behind Roy Collier in terms of actual shearing time, but once again the quality of his shearing carried him through to second place.
Ian Montgomery also proved that it is important to combine speed with quality in claiming third position and pushing Collier into fourth. Robert Davidson finished fifth, while Stanley Allingham finished sixth.
