Saturday’s sale at Dowra Mart saw a large entry of cattle on offer, which was met with another lively trade. While forward store bullocks and heifers were a flying trade, exporters were busy, as well as farmers, snapping up weanling bulls.

Store bullocks from 400kg to 500kg sold mainly from €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg for good-quality continentals, with U grades making over €2.50/kg. Light store heifers from 400kg to 500kg sold mainly from €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg, similar to the equivalent bullock. The weanling trade was very strong, especially for heavy bulls and fancy types.
