The main attraction on the pit was the first Irish sighting of the Claas Torion wheeled loader.

This machine is a serious branch out for Class who, up to this point, have only supplied telescopic loaders to the Irish market. The Torion is a collaboration with Liebherr, the German crane and loader giant.

Torion is the first wheel loader to be specifically designed for agricultural use and a completely new market sector for Claas. The Torion range includes seven models in three different category sizes with load capacities from 3.45t up to 12.4t. The machine on the pit in Tipperary is fitted with a 12 foot rake and at first viewing is more than able to handle it.

Powered by a 195hp Leibherr four-cylinder engine, the Torion 1812 has a tipping load capacity of 11t and an operating weight of 18.7t. A particular feature of the Torion is its massive torque of 1,215Nm, which comes in at just 1,100rpm. This torque can be seen as the big Claas shoves grass up the pit.
